Description:

Native American, southwest United States, Navajo, ca. mid-20th century CE. A beautiful concha belt comprised of 12 convex ovoid panels as well as 11 convex rectangular panels of silver-plated brass. Each ovoid panel is inlaid with a single oblong turquoise stone surrounded by a raised bezel, and each rectangular panel is inlaid with a single vermilion-hued coral stone. The panels are stamped with several areas of curvilinear and radiating motifs which draw the eye of the viewer towards the vibrant blue and red hues of the stones. Capped with a small loop on one end and an ovoid hook on the other, this is a marvelous belt ready to be worn! Size: 40.125" L x 1.25" W (101.9 cm x 3.2 cm); size of largest stone (turquoise): 0.7" W (1.8 cm).

  • Condition: Wearable as shown. Slight bending and light patina to some panels. Intact and very good. Light earthen deposits on some stones. The letters "SS" and a small snake are stamped behind two ovoid panels, and the numbers "650" are written in black marker behind another ovoid panel.
