Native American, Southwest United States, Navajo, ca. mid 20th century CE. A radiant sterling silver (93% silver) and turquoise concha belt with a leather band. A gorgeous buckle with three turquoise stones secures the belt, and the buckle is stamped with "STERLING" on the verso. The belt boasts 8 large ovoid medallions with scalloped edges and 9 smaller butterfly shaped panels, each with a generous turquoise stone in the center bezel. The silver is stamped with crescent and linear motifs, and a loop is welded to the back of each medallion and butterfly for the leather belt to pass through. Size individual medallion: 2.75" L x 2" W (7 cm x 5.1 cm); belt: 47" L x 2" W (119.4 cm x 5.1 cm); quality of silver: 93%
