Southwestern USA, 20th century CE. This is a fantastic pair of wooden kachina figures with distinctive styles. Each have decorative elements made of other material: cloth, wool, wood. They are brightly colored, with one faceless and covered in blotches of red, yellow, blue, and white paint all over its body; the other has a brilliantly turquoise face and pronounced ears. Kachina figures are meant as gifts for children representing kachina dancers and the supernatural kachina beings they embody, and are part of the Pueblo tradition, which includes the Hopi and the Zuni tribes.
