Description:

Latin America, Mexico, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, ca. mid-20th century CE. A spooky visage to say the least, this mask depicts a white-faced demon carved from wood with fabulous modeled "bony" contours and hollow eye and nasal cavities, all painted in glossy white with red and orange details to delineate teeth, furrows, and blood spots, a pointy, leather crest (made from an old basketball believe it or not - yes, this guy's got game!) attached to his forehead with a black fabric cape attached to its periphery to create a dramatic contrast. Size: mask alone 6" W x 12.5" L (15.2 cm x 31.8 cm); 22.5" L with cape
