North America, Mexico, Guanajuato, ca. 20th century CE, signed by Capelo, active latter part of 20th century and 21st century. A magnficent pair of ceramic urns, each one quite sizeable and skillfully decorated with colorful glazes in Capelo's signature style with a nearly identical motif of colorful flowers and vines surrounding rampant lions; the lions flank a framed ovoid portrait of flowers. Deep blue bands encircle the rim and base while the background is warm yellow and the interior is creamy white. Size of one (they are identical): 11" W x 17" H (27.9 cm x 43.2 cm)
