Nicolas Quezada Celado (Mexico, born and raised in Mata Ortiz), ca. late 20th century CE. Signed "Nicolas Quezada" on underside. A hand-built pottery bowl of sizable, hemispherical form with a round but stable base, swelling walls, and a thick rim surrounding the deep basin. Presenting with a sandy beige ground color, the basin surfaces are decorated with alternating black and red horizontal stripes, broad black tendrils, and a pair of elongated fish flanking a pair of minimalist avian heads. Within the basin center is a lengthy fish with a sweeping dorsal fin and a crosshatch-patterned body. Size: 13.625" W x 5.625" H (34.6 cm x 14.3 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
