Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden handle for a personal sword known as a kris (also keris) with a curved profile featuring a pair of abstract anthropomorphic maskettes along the interior curve. Nice patina has formed lustrous brown hue across the carving. Size: 1" W x 4.1" H (2.5 cm x 10.4 cm); 4.7" H (11.9 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Handle is adhered to display stand and cannot be removed. Very light abrasions to body and maskettes, with chips to lower plug, and light encrustations within maskette details, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina throughout.
