Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. mid-20th century CE. A fine example of a kris (keris) with a forged-steel blade exhibiting a serpentine profile, a dramatically pointed blade guard, and integral ribbons of lighter nickel material. The wooden handle bears a bulbous, diamond-shaped pattern as well as thin decorative panels formed from 93% silver, and a spacer disc below is inset with several amethyst cabochons. The wooden sheath features a broad guard protector and a blade housing embellished with a large 93% silver panel inset with a singular ruby cabochon.   • Condition: Repair to a couple of silver panels on handle with very light adhesive residue behind panels. Loss to silver panel on one side of handle as shown. Loosening to some silver panels, with fissures to wooden guard protector. Nice patina to silver components.
