Description:

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine dagger known as a kris (also keris). The hand-carved wooden handle exhibits a bulbous form and rests above a brass spacer disc inlaid with faceted stone cabochons. The forged-steel blade bears a gently oscillating profile with sharpened edges, a pointed tip, and integral strips of lighter material beneath a protruding hand guard. The two-part wooden sheath features caramel and coffee-hued graining along the blade housing and guard protector. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only.
