Description:

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early 20th century CE. A lovely personal ceremonial sword known as a pedang suduk, known for their straight-profiled blades, with a serpentine-form iron blade from a kris. The handle and sheath are carved from dark-brown hard wood with form-fitting brass accessories accentuating the handle cap, handle chain, and both ends of the sheath. The iron blade has several curves comprising its profile, and stripes of lighter nickel are integral to the composition. Size (w/ sheath): 2" W x 17" H (5.1 cm x 43.2 cm); length of blade: 11.75" L (29.8 cm).

  • Condition: Blade is not original to handle/sheath. Minor nicks and oxidation to blade, with light adhesive residue along tang inserted into handle, and light abrasions to sheath and handle. Nice patina to wooden components.
