South Asia, India, Naga peoples, ca. 1970s CE. A dazzling, wearable glass bead necklace made by the Naga culture composed of dozens of long strands of white discoid beads (hundreds of beads), while closer to the nape of the neck is a vibrant arrangement of red and pink tubular beads as well as blue and yellow barrel-shaped beads. Each end is complemented by a section of macrame textile with a loop on one side and an Indian aluminium 10-paisa coin on the other. Size: 20.5" L (52.1 cm)

The Naga people are a combination of tribes in northeastern India and northwestern Burma known for their artistry, particularly when it comes to jewelry. During special rituals on their calendar, men and women dress in ceremonial clothing and ornaments, including stunning necklaces like this one.
