Description:

South Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved coconut that is hollowed, de-husked, and mounted atop a lathe-turned wooden foot. The smooth exterior has developed a lustrous beige-hued patina, and the hollow interior could hold copious amounts of wine or other liquids. The missing top of the coconut is capped with a form-fitting wooden lid with a conical handle. Size (w/ lid): 5.6" W x 10.2" H (14.2 cm x 25.9 cm).
