Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Haida peoples, ca. second half of the 20th century CE. A beautiful copper-covered wooden box with fantastical relief imagery in the traditional form on its sides. The lid is hinged and the interior is lined with copper-colored leather. Copper was a traditional currency amongst the people of the Northwest Coast, traded in sheets like those attached to this box. Here there are depictions of Beaver, a Fox-masked human, and two Sun faces. Size: 4.55" L x 6.6" W x 4.8" H (11.6 cm x 16.8 cm x 12.2 cm)
