Description:

Latin America, Guatemala, ca. mid 20th century CE. A stunning hand-carved and beautifully-painted wooden mask with engrossing simian features including a wide and flat nose, broad brow, disc-shaped ears, almond-shaped eyes, and a thin mouth with pursed lips. Round eye holes for the wearer have been drilled through each eye, and the mask was likely meant for a child given its overall size. A fabulous and striking example! Size: 3.25" L x 5.25" W x 5" H (8.3 cm x 13.3 cm x 12.7 cm); 9" H (22.9 cm) on included custom stand.
