Western Europe, England & Germany, ca. 1911 & 1936 CE. A framed pair of paper documents, a bond certificate from Manaos Harbour Limited issued in 1911 and a 1936 German bond with coupons. The 3% bond was issued in 1936 by the Conversion Office for German Foreign Debts, and embossed with the Nazi seal. The German economic crisis of the 1920s led to the reintroduction of foreign exchange control in 1931. The Manaos Harbour Limited was formed in 1906 by British investors to run harbor and water transport / shipping facilities in Manaos Brazil. The bonds were printed in London during the height of the rubber boom before synthetic rubber was invented in 1920s. Size of German bond: 15" L x 9.75" W (38.1 cm x 24.8 cm); frame: 21" L x 20" W (53.3 cm x 50.8 cm)
