Description:

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Borneo, Central Kalimantan region, Dayak peoples, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A rare example of a bamboo blowgun quiver (known as a tolor or telenga) containing about 30 slender darts made from wood or bamboo splinters that are traditionally used with a blow gun known as a sumpit (literally "blow-pipe"). Accompanying the blow gun quiver is a large belt clip created from a tree branch that is secured to the quiver via a loop made of woven rattan. Two bands of woven rattan adorn the quiver, one around the body and one around the lid. Finally, a cord is attached to the two rattan bands, serving to connect the lid and body as well as a possible suspension cord. Blowguns traditionally have been used to shoot poison-dipped darts. Size: quiver is 3.125" diameter x 14.125" H (7.9 cm x 35.9 cm)
