Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty to Republic period, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beautiful pendant carved from a stunning piece of red nephrite jade to represent the serpentine form a 2 headed zoomorph, resembling a dragon on one end and a goose or another long-necked bird on the other. Note how the stunning natural hues of the stone complement the creatures form, fading from flaming shades of tangerine and persimmon to cool tones of sage and olive - perhaps symbolic of the dual fiery and aquatic natures of the beast. Size of pendant: 0.6" L x 1.8" W x 3" H (1.5 cm x 4.6 cm x 7.6 cm); of strand: 21.5" L (54.6 cm)
