Description:

Southeast Asia, Burma (Myanmar), ca. 20th century CE. A dazzling lacquered wood altar figure with glass eyes adorned in lustrous gold and deep red pigments. Sitting in lotus position atop an integral plinth, the figure wears a long robe that folds over his left shoulder, covering his left arm as he holds a sizeable pot in his lap, placing one hand below to support it and the other reaching inside. A conical, flared headdress crowns his serene visage. The periphery of his plinth is inscribed in Burmese script, likely with a prayer. Size: 12.5" W x 18.8" H (31.8 cm x 47.8 cm)
