Southeast Asia, Indonesia, eastern Kalimantan, Kayanic Dayak complex, ca. second half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden head of an abstract guardian figure resting atop an integral circular plinth. The seemingly zoomorphic head bears large ovoid eyes beneath curved brows, a slender nose above a broad mouth, and a pair of rounded ears along the backside. Size: 8.8" W x 7.4" H (22.4 cm x 18.8 cm)
