Australia, Aboriginal people, the Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) region, Western Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, ca. mid 20th century CE, painted by Thompson Nganjmirra (b. 1954). Painted using natural earth pigments on a large strip of eucalyptus bark, this beautiful, colorful composition depicts a human figure with long limbs curved into dynamic positions - as if the figure is dancing. Four weapons surround the figure, suspended in the earth-red background as if in space. Comes with a custom shadow box. Size: 5.5" W x 11.1" H (14 cm x 28.2 cm); size of shadow box: 2" L x 14" W x 22" H (5.1 cm x 35.6 cm x 55.9 cm)
