Description:

North America, Midwestern / Northern United States, ca. mid-20th century CE. This is a charming ice fishing decoy made of wood, tin, lead, and coated in glitter flecks! The body is carved from wood, and the tin sheets are inserted as fins- the forward dorsal fin is pierced for suspending on a line. Tacked to the head are red acrylic button eyes, and the surface is coated with multicolored glitter. The underside is filled with lead to stabilize the fish under the ice. The glitter would shimmer like scales, attracting other fish to the hole where the fisherman could use a special ice spear. These decoys have become treasured folk art and this example is perfect for anyone looking for unique and flashy fishing themed décor! Size: 9.75" L x 3" W x 2.5" H (24.8 cm x 7.6 cm x 6.4 cm)
