Native American, United States, Plains Tribes, Northeast Mohawk, Northwest Salish, & Southwestern Tohono O'odham (Papago) people, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. An assorted collection of Native American folk-art and toys- a total of 20 items that demonstrate traditional weaving, beadwork, leather and rawhide items, and pottery. Included are 2 pairs of beaded infant sized moccasins, a pair of beaded children’s moccasins, and 5 pairs of doll moccasins - 4 pairs are beaded. The weaving consists of a Salish woven cedar root conical basket, 4 miniature doll sized Papago horsehair lidded baskets and plate, a miniature lidded Mohawk wicker basket, and a rattan lidded basket with brightly colored fibers. Other various items a dried hide and painted box, a petite red-on-buff pottery bowl, a miniature pottery red and black pot, and 2 miniature cotton cloth and beaded dolls. Size (Salish basket): 3.5" Diameter x 3.5" H (8.9 cm x 8.9 cm); (doll): 1.6" L x 0.75" W (4.1 cm x 1.9 cm)

  • Condition: Wear, staining and discoloring to moccasins, fraying of threads and losses to beading on some. Child and baby moccasins shoe signs of use, but overall good condition. Salish Basket is intact and excellent, Velcro pad added to previous display case. Velcro pad added to pair of baby moccasins. Chips to pottery rims and surface discoloration. Fraying to dolls. Miniature woven baskets are excellent.
