Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Woyo peoples, ca. 20th century CE. A deliberately grotesque wooden mask with a huge forehead, bulging eyes, and a projecting tongue. The mask is painted largely black, with the rim unpainted and the tongue painted red. Woyo masks are used in ceremonial dances called ndunga. Comes with custom stand. Size: 6.25" L x 7.5" W x 11.5" H (15.9 cm x 19 cm x 29.2 cm); height on stand: 13.2" (33.5 cm)
