Description:

**Originally Listed At $350**

Central Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Songye culture, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine pair of water buffalo horns, each displaying several metal ringlets within pierced holes along the upper rims. The ringlets enable the horns to be shook as rattles which emit a bright jingling sound when jostled. The tip of the smaller horn is slightly narrowed, perhaps from being fitted with a cap, and the tip of the larger horn has a small drilled suspension hole. Both horns are enveloped in lustrous patina. Size of largest (hole on tip): 3.5" W x 10" H (8.9 cm x 25.4 cm).
