Native American, New Mexico, Acoma, ca. mid-20th century CE. A delightful pair of Acoma pottery examples: a seated bird and a petite bowl. Both hand-painted with hues of beige, white, orange, and black, the bird features a prominent crest, a pointed beak, and carefully delineated plumage, while the bowl displays 2 horizontal registers of a geometric pattern along its exterior. A faint signature seeming to reach "Sefarina" can be seen on the underside of the bird. Size of larger (bird): 4.6" L x 3.4" W x 4.5" H (11.7 cm x 8.6 cm x 11.4 cm)

  • Condition: Faint signature on underside of bird, possibly reading "Sefarina" and underside of bowl inscribed "ACOMA." Chipping to bird's tail, and some light nicks and abrasions to bowl, but otherwise both are intact and excellent with good preservation of pigments. Modern felt pads on underside of chicken.
