Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Calima culture, ca. 200 BCE to 400 CE. What an amazing and spectacular piece of ancient art! Single chunk of ancient Colombian emerald transformed into a pendant of extreme charm and importance. Depicting a standing human figure of indeterminate sex with arms held close to their chest. A couple toes shown on each foot, small slit eyes and mouth and most impressively is the 8 elements of the raised crown. This could perhaps be a representation of a sun deity - a theme often shown in golden masks from this region of Colombia. On the reverse is a small rounded suspension loop. One amazing example of ancient art! Size: .9625" W x 1.5" H (2.4 cm x 3.8 cm) and weighs a hefty 11.1 grams - 55 carats!
