Description:

Latin America, Mexico, Taxco, ca. mid 20th century CE. Two beautiful statement rings, comprised of 90% silver inlaid with bone (likely bovine) and a magnesite stone skull! The rings both feature a silver bezel and shank with two ridges on the outside of the band. The verso of each bezel is carved with a makers' mark: "JB." The larger skull is carved from a creamy beige bone and surrounded with a rope and twist border that follows the contours of the skull. The other skull is made from a pretty turquoise colored magnesite with a simple lip encircling the ovoid shape. Both skull forms are quite detailed with deep eye sockets and individual teeth! These rings are wearable and a fantastic reminder of the macabre. Size of bone skull bezel: 1.25" L x 1" W (3.2 cm x 2.5 cm); band opening: 93" W (2.4 cm); US ring size 10.5; magnesite bezel: .875" L x .75" W (2.2 cm x 1.9 cm); band opening: .875" W (2.2 cm); US ring size 9.5; quality of silver: 90%; total weight: 31.3 grams
