Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche to Sican / Lambayeque culture, ca. 7th to 11th century CE. Peru, Incan Empire & Post Conquest period, ca. 1530 to 1600 CE. A pair of copper adornments worn or buried with an elite member of society, a copper neck collar or pectoral made copper with danglers and a larger collar hammered from a thick sheet of copper. It is possible these were massive nose rings, although neither have the usual septum hole. The one pierced along the main band has 5 danglers attached by rings along the edge. These danglers are shaped like snakes, with small eyes atop the triangular heads. The other pectoral is a substantial size with 3 piercings for suspension. Size of larger: 9.75" L x 3.25" W (24.8 cm x 8.3 cm)
