Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Cypro-Archaic Period, ca. 600 BCE; Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. late 4th to 1st century BCE. An interesting ensemble of 3 mold-formed pottery artifacts from ancient Greece. First is a Cypriot pottery equestrian effigy, the figure with a conical head, and the horse with a crested mane flanked by petite ears. Next is a Hellenistic equestrian figure sans horse with bowed legs, a pleated skirt, and a fillet across the brow. Last is a Hellenistic pottery head of a woman with a beehive-form coiffure. Size of largest (Cypriot equestrian): 2.125" W x 4.125" H (5.4 cm x 10.5 cm)

The Cypriot equestrian piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.

  • Condition: Repair to head and left leg of Cypriot figure, and Hellenistic equestrian figure is missing the accompanying horse; Hellenistic pottery head is intact and very good. All items have softening to finer details, encrustations, and fading to pigment where applicable. Nice earthen deposits throughout. Cypriot figure has TL drill holes behind head and below proper right leg.
