Description:

Ancient Seas, middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. A wonderful and attractive pair of fossilized teeth from one of the ancient seas' most ferocious hunters: the megalodon shark. Each tooth is of characteristic triangular form with fine polishing to the enamel surfaces, a naturally striated bourlette, and a bulbous V-shaped root. The dark gray to black hues of the root are entrancing to behold as they glint off the surfaces in the light. Megalodons had approximately 276 teeth in their mouth at any given time and scientists believe their jaws had the extreme power able to exert 108,500 to 182,200 newtons (24,400 to 41,000 lbf) - enough bite force to crush a car! Size of largest: 2.39" W x 3.14" H (6.1 cm x 8 cm)
