Description:

East Asia, China, late Ming to Qing Dynasty, ca. mid-17th to 19th century CE. A set of 2 glazed pottery bowls and 2 glazed pottery plates. The first bowl exhibits a classic blue-on-white decoration with tight coils and floral motifs within the basin as well as vines across the exterior. The first plate has dense floral motifs within the basin, and the second plate features an amusing depiction of a mythological creature called a qilin. The largest bowl is covered in thick pale blue glaze and has a deep basin resting atop a squat foot. Size of largest: 7.75" W x 3.7" H (19.7 cm x 9.4 cm)
