Description:

Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Beringian / Old Bering Sea Culture, Punuk / Thule to Inuit culture, ca. 500 to 1700 CE. Two walrus tusk ivory tools from older Inuit cultures - a slender and slightly bent handle with a drilled hole, and a notched piece with thick, rounded grooves and polished notches. It is currently unclear what the specific utility or purpose of these implements served - likely used in daily life or as a hunting / fishing aids. Both are displayed in a modern Riker case. Size of notched bone: 4.3" L x 1" W (10.9 cm x 2.5 cm); case: 6.2" L x 5.2" W (15.7 cm x 13.2 cm)
