Description:

Central Asia, ca. late 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A rare example of a cast bronze knife from this region, with one edge curved and sharpened, the other slightly wider. One end has a ring handle, cast as a single piece with the blade. The production of bronze weapons in this area - which encompasses a huge geographical extent, stretching from the Caspian to Mongolia - began to intensify around 2000 BCE. Knives like this one are found in the graves of warriors alongside axes, arrowheads, and spearpoints. Size: 1" W x 5.75" H (2.5 cm x 14.6 cm); 2.1" H (5.3 cm) on included custom stand.
