The collar is also engraved with scrolling vine and foliate shapes, an oval cartouche in the center is left blank - likely for the owner to monogram or personalize. The wooden shaft is carved with soft and rounded knobs and grooves and the tip is capped with iron which suggests use as a walking stick, although similar styles were used as hunting and riding crops.
