Description:

**First Time At Auction**

North America, United States, Connecticut, ca. 1866 to 1880 CE. Wow this is an interesting .44 caliber pistol! This type of gun was likely made by the Connecticut Arms and Manufacturing Company and known as a Hammond Bulldog. The barrel is octagonal with a sight on the muzzle. The pistol is breech loading and accessible by pushing a rotating the breechblock to the left, an unusual way to load these guns! The stock is covered by a walnut wood grip that is decorated with crosshatched lines on one side. These pocket-sized pistols were quite powerful, but fewer than 8,000 were manufactured by the short lived company. Size: 7" L x 2.75" W (17.8 cm x 7 cm); barrel: 4" L (10.2 cm)
