Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkoman, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. An antique Tekke Turkoman Turkmen bracelet composed of 92% silver with two registers that each feature five ovoid carnelian stones (10 in total) set in silver bezels amidst a fire-gilded ground that is engraved with beautiful curvilinear motifs. The raised borders framing these registers are also incised with diagonal, cord-patterned motifs, and the cuff peripheries resolve in teardrop-shaped terminals. Size: 2.8" W x 2.75" H (7.1 cm x 7 cm); (wrist opening): 2.3" W (5.8 cm); (carnelian stones): 0.6" L x 0.4" W (1.5 cm x 1 cm); quality of silver: 92%; total weight: 218.1 grams.
