Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkoman, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful pair of diamond-shaped pectoral ornaments, each featuring 9 drop-form tassel ornaments formed from 91.4% to 92.1% silver and ovoid carnelian cabochons inlaid within central bezels. The primary bodies are comprised of between 77% and 82.1% silver that been overlaid with 51.02% to 74.73% gold gilt. A set of 7 ovoid ornaments emanate from atop the upper periphery, and a pair of lateral suspension loops enable these pectorals to be worn with any outfit. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 4.875" W x 3.375" H (12.4 cm x 8.6 cm); (w/ tassels): 6.5" H (16.5 cm); gold gilt quality: 51.02% to 74.73% (equivalent to 12K+ to 15K+); total weight: 170.3 grams

  • Condition: Both can be made wearable with necklaces strands. Both have minor abrasions to main bodies and carnelian inlays, with light softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout.
