Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A lovely wood and high quality 97.86% silver miniature table supported by four feet. The silver sheet panels covering the legs and rim are etched and chased with scrolling vine and cloud motifs, and pairs of animals, while the interior lip contains sinuous dragons. The open wood register above the legs is relief carved with lotus petals and conch shells, then highlighted with red pigment, and the interior flat surface is painted with a faint prayer wheel. This gorgeous temple piece may have been a pedestal for a Bodhisattva or deity statue. Size: 13" L x 13" W x 4.75" H (33 cm x 33 cm x 12.1 cm); silver quality: 97.86%; weight: 2721.55 grams
