Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. An interesting iron and wooden flintlock rifle with an octagonal barrel and pistol shaped stock. The flintlock mechanism is on the right side of the stock with a trigger formed by a vertically placed pin. The backstock and butt exhibit a slender profile that curves downward similar to the stock of a smaller pistol. This type of firearm was modeled after Indian matchlock long-guns and was typically used for hunting and protection. Size: 48" L x 3" W (121.9 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Flintlock mechanism is loose. The brass fitting around the wooden stock and barrel is slightly loose. Hammer articulates, trigger is slightly stiff. Some minor corrosion on fittings. Heavy patina on barrel. Gun has not been tested for firing functionality.
