Near East, Tibet, ca. 1800 to 1899 CE. A painting depicting Vajra Sarasvati (Tibetan: dor je yang chen ma mar mo), the wrathful and secret Vajra Sarasvati from the Krishna Yanmari Tantra - delineated with three faces and six hands, serpents emerging from heads and beneath feet, comprised of ground mineral pigments on cotton. The main face is red, the right green and the left white. The three right hands hold, a sword, staff and ornate finial. The three left, a long staff with serpent motif. Having jewel ornaments and garments of silk. Seated in a manner of ease with the left leg extended, the right leg drawn in slightly. Beneath stands another deity atop a nude human figure. Mounted under glass in custom gold and red frame. Size: Painting itself measures 17" (43.18 cm) x 12" (30.48 cm); framed 17-3/4" (45.09 cm) x 12-1/2" (31.75 cm).

Within the genre of meditational deities, she belongs to the category of wisdom producing deities along with well-known others such as Manjushri, Maitreya, White Achala and White Vajravarahi.
