**First Time At Auction**

East Asia, Tibet, ca. late 19th century CE. A wonderful brass sculpture of Padmasambhava, also referred to as Guru Rinpoche in Tibet, thought to be among the most important masters who brought Buddhism to Tibet during the 8th century, elaborately adorned in necklaces, earrings, and voluminous robes as he holds a Kalasha - a vase of abundance that contains water of spiritual wealth - in his left hand and displays the apana mudra gesture of healing. His base is sealed and stamped with a floral motif, indicating he has been consecrated and contains sacred materials. Crowned by a pointed headdress, the figure gazes downward from bulging eyes beneath a narrow brow. Size: 6.9" W x 10.9" H (17.5 cm x 27.7 cm)
