Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful Lama's dance collar comprised of tightly-woven silk threads in hues of coffee, gold, ruby, sapphire, and pale jade. The silken peripheral border displays a number of large, semicircular floral designs, while the interior area illustrates dozens of small flowers, tendril-form vines, and thin linear designs atop a gold-hued ground. The textile is slit down one corner and leads inwards to a circular collar, worn by dancers and spun around to flare each side out. A beautiful example with intricate designs! Size: 36" L x 36" W (91.4 cm x 91.4 cm).
