Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful gilt brass seated bodhisattva, delicately executed and cast with excellent detail. He wears armlets, bracelets, and anklets, as well as a necklace and thick, draped chain over his torso, as well as a loincloth with a bejeweled belt around his waist, with sashes flowing underneath his legs. In addition, he wears an elaborate headdress and ear ornaments. A tall crown of hair with jewels adorning it completes the opulent figure. He holds his hands in the gesture of Dharmachakra mudra, Sanskrit for the wheel of Dharma, representing putting the wheel of teaching in motion. Size: 4.45" W x 6.45" H (11.3 cm x 16.4 cm)
