Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A terrifying and detailed ten-armed representation of the Troma Nakmo, the female embodiment of wisdom. She wears a diadem and garland of skulls, and in each arm holds an implement. She stands atop a small human figure, who in turn rests upon a fish. The piece has tremendous details, as many cast bronze Tibetan Hindu statues do. Size: 8.25" W x 14.9" H (21 cm x 37.8 cm)

Troma Nakmo is a ten-armed wisdom dakini who is a form of Vajrayogini, associated with the practice of chod (tcho), "cutting through the ego". She is associated with Tibetan Buddhism. Images like this one are made as idealized forms and with symbolism and meaning that would have been readily apparent to the audience it was made for. They were made to adorn private family shrines and altars as well as temples.
