Description:

**Originally Listed At $750**

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful brass dorje, also known as a vajra. The dorje, an instantly recognizable symbol of Tibetan Buddhism, represents the moment of Enlightenment. This example has fine, lotus-flower-like motifs around the interior of each of its openwork, cage-like spheres. These spheres are capped by points, each with further ornate decoration. Vajra means both thunderbolt and diamond, symbolizing an irresistible force and indestructibility. In ceremony, the dorje/vajra is almost always paired with a bell. Size: 6" W x 1.5" H (15.2 cm x 3.8 cm)
