**First Time At Auction**

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A pair of woodblock stamps and a weighted iron presser. The longest stamp is double sided and has engravings along the four narrow edges as well as both faces which include linear, geometric motifs, Tibetan script, and sets of animals on both faces, fish, snake, horse, and a tiger like animal- all highly stylized. The other stamp is entirety Tibetan script on one face, a Buddhist sutra verse. These stamps were used for patterning textiles such as prayer flags. Included is a hefty block weight bound in cloth that would press the wood panels into the print surface. Size of long stamp: 12.5" L x 3" W x 0.75" H (31.8 cm x 7.6 cm x 1.9 cm)

Provenance: private Friday Harbor, Washington, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
