Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, late 19th to early 20th century CE. An adorable wooden coconut grater depicting a recumbent rabbit, expertly hand-carved from one piece of wood and fitted with an iron grater that extends from its mouth. Boasting a lustrous finish on its rich, coffee brown wood grain, this charming fellow presents with a long body, sloped back, hanging belly, lengthy tail, and large feet on short legs. His two ears lay flat on his back, gracefully leading one's eye from his curved body to his tapered snout featuring a triangular nose, jagged-toothed smile, and almond shaped eyes painted black. Traditionally used in the preparation of delectable curries and desserts, this darling bunny looks instead like he might just get up and hop across the room! Size: 20.5" L x 3.875" W x 7.5" H (52.1 cm x 9.8 cm x 19 cm)
