Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden Buddha figure seated atop an integral tiered plinth, all covered in lustrous gilding. The figure is shown in an upright position, with downcast eyes and a flaming ushnisha, while holding his hands in the Bhumisparsha mudra of fearlessness. Size: 2.375" L x 3.25" W x 8.75" H (6 cm x 8.3 cm x 22.2 cm)

According to the consignor, this piece was previously owned by the Portland Art Museum in Oregon.
