Description:

Spanish Colonial, Latin America, ca. mid-19th century CE. A stunning sterling silver cup, the body angled with ten faces - nine sections engraved with beautiful floral motifs and one with an inscription that reads, "Malvina From her friend E. Farrand December 25, 1857" - with a gorgeous foliage handle - all upon a pedestal base of a decagonal form, with each of its ten faces engraved with floral or crest-like motifs. There are multiple hallmarks on the piece including two with a profile head (below rim and on vertical edge of base), one with the initials "CT" and an image perhaps representing a dagger between the letters at the upper end of one of the tendrilled panels of the cup, and finally, another hallmark of a difficult to determine form on the underside of the base of foliated motifs. Size: 4.5" W x 4.75" H (11.4 cm x 12.1 cm); Weight: 223.7
