South America, Bolivia, ca. 19th century, CE. One of the finest silver crowns from this region we have had the pleasure of owning or even seeing! Large solid silver resplendor crown - designed to be worn upon the head of a wooden Santo or other religious figure - with large radiate resplendor suspended above the cross above eight silver petal-like elements of the crown with high relief decorative embellishments, cross sits atop a half dome orb. Edges of resplendor to the inside represent clouds, outside represents golden rays of light - wonderfully symbolic of the celestial realm. Size: 12" W x 11.5" H (30.5 cm x 29.2 cm), weighs 362.874 grams.
